iPhone Disney Park Apps (updated)

iPhone Disney Park Apps

Updated (11/19/2009): My how a little time changes things. The “WaitWatch” apps are still great apps, but far less used due to being pulled from the app store over a name dispute. Since then, TouringPlans.com has also begun a beta of their iPhone compatible product: Lines. Lines isn’t an iPhone app, but allows you to connect to the web in an iPhone friendly format and access (and report) wait times along with statistical information from TouringPlans like expected wait and crowd ratings. Very cool!

So you have an iPhone AND you’re headed to a Disney park. What’s next? iPhone/Disney apps, of course. There are a number of great ones out there that are specific to WDW or Disneyland. Here are a few of my favorite “must have” apps for touring a Disney park.

  • Various park apps from “WaitWatch.” There are were free,  easy to use wait time reporting applications, one for each Disney park (DL and WDW)
  • Qik might be another handy app as it allows you to upload your iPhone 3Gs video right to the web (great for streaming where exactly you are in a Disney park to friends back home).
  • TipStar is another great, simple app for those of you who are challenged by calculating (in your head) the tip on your food bill.
  • If you’re staying at the Swan or Dolphin, they have an app too! The app has basic information but it is notable as the first and only “official” application from a Disney resort anywhere.
  • RC Physics is for those of you who are true geeks. It uses your iPhone uber-sensors to capture all sorts of data that can be used to display a graphical representation of the ride’s G-forces and such. Data can also be exported for you to make crazy graphs using other software.
  • WDW Guide – Even if you weren’t one of the few to win a copy from Netcot’s contest this summer, this application is a great on-line guide book style app.
  • FStream – A handy little streaming app that will allow you to carry MouseWorldRadio with you wherever you are (assuming you have an internet connection). Even the most un-technical can use this handy video to figure out how to do it.
  • TripIt – one of my FAVORITE apps of all time. Setup an account with them and forward email confirmations of your plane, car or hotel reservations and TripIt will organize them for you including breaking out important phone numbers, confirmation codes and even links to Google Maps that will get you from your first reservation to the next (ie. airport you land at to the hotel where your reservation is).

These are just some examples of handy iPhone apps. What are your favorites?

Hi. Sorry that the Wait Watchers iPhone apps with countdown to show times and user submitted wait times are not currently in the store due to a trademark dispute. If you already have them, the server that makes them go is still working just fine. We’ll try to resolve this thing soon.
See you in the parks!

Don’t forget the new Hilton, located in Walt Disney World Notescast for the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as these iPhone Apps…

There will be a new app coming out next week that from all i’ve heard will be the best of all Disney apps for both DL and WDW called eticket WDW or DL.

MouseWait for the iPhone is the most popular Disneyland app in the store right now, the wait times are really accurate and they have a huge user base.

I like the Walkee iGuide. It’s wait times are pretty much spot on and the map is really well done. Lot’s of cool features.

There are so many interesting aps. I like ‘WDW Park Hours’ and ‘DVC’ and the ‘WDW PIN’ aps. I think these were all 99 cents each so with ten bucks you can get a nice variety to try. I’ve not tried any of the wait time aps yet.

There is a really nice app by wdwtrip.com called WDW Today that shows park, parade and fireworks hours which I use all the time. It is very simple but I find it really helps when park hopping and planning your days.
