Disney/PIXAR Sued Over Luxo, Jr.

Disney/PIXAR is being sued by a Norweigian lighting company, Luxo, over upcoming sales of a Luxo Jr. toy with the Blu-Ray discs of Up. The Norweigian company claims salesĀ of the desk-lamp character (as well as the walk-around character in Walt Disney World), created by John Lasseter in 1986, will be devestating to Luxo. The company hadn’t sought litigation before because no definitive name was given to the character until now.

A spokesman for Disney said the company hadn’t seen the complaint and couldn’t comment.

I would precise that according to press articles, the mean reason is that they’re wasn’t any lamp product before…

A toy reproduction of Luxo Jr is put with the Blue-Ray Disc Collector editionand the audio-animatronic is a also a living reproduction… so it could be a copyright violation. Pixar hasn’t sign a licence to product real lamp with the Luxo design… The short could be a hommage but not a toy… Isn’t link with a naming, but with the final product.

Where are you? I haven’t had a netcot podcast updated on my ipod since August 14! Please tell me that your podcast is still alive & running!

Busy work schedules and vacation schedules have put the podcast on a hiatus. It should be back up and running fairly soon.

Remember Van has a job and a family.

I know. I count on all they do to keep me together until I can get the family back to the World! I assume nothing wrong for anyone, and I miss them very much!!
