Dreamworks Acquires Rights to MLK, Jr.’s Story

According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks have inked a deal with the Martin Luther King, Jr., estate (headed by Dexter King) to create a movie highlighting the leader of the Civil Rights movement. Neither the value of the deal nor the cost of the project were disclosed.

However, the film may be troubled before production even starts. Martin Luther King III and Bernice King (Dexter King’s siblings) say the deal isn’t official because the family and estate shareholders didn’t agree on it.

Remember, Spielberg’s wing of Dreamworks has inked a deal to join Disney’s growing number of movie labels.
