Disney/Dreamworks Deal Official

In a move that could change the movie industry, Disney has confirmed the rumors that it has entered into a long-term exclusive contract with Dreamworks SKG (headed by Steven Spielberg). About 6 live-action films per year will be filmed under the Dreamworks label (which will now be a part of the Touchstone Pictures label) as a part of their existing contract with Reliance BIG Entertainment.

The good news for this deal is that even though Disney had to fire people earlier this year due to budget concerns, many jobs have been opened by this latest acquisition.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This does not include Dreamworks Animation SKG. That is a completely separate entity and headed by Jeffrey Katzenberg.
