Disney To Cut 400 Jobs From TV Unit
The Walt Disney Company will be cutting about 400 jobs from the ABC TV unit. According to one ABC News executive, 37 of the cuts were new jobs that had not been filled in the news department. Another ABC executive said that only 200 active workers were being laid off and the rest were 200 jobs that were vacant. This comes a day after ESPN indicated it would eliminate 200 jobs within the next year through attrition, not layoffs. The job cuts are in response to the fear of the economic slowdown.
