1901: December 5: Walter Elias Disney is born in Chicago, Illinois.
1903: Walt Disney’s only sister, Ruth Flora Disney, is born in Chicago, Illinois.
1927: Actor Robert Guillaume (Rafiki in The Lion King movies) is born in St. Louis, Missouri.
1945: Singer/Actress Bette Midler (Georgette in Oliver & Company) is born in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
1949: Actor Jeff Bridges (TRON) is born in Los Angeles, California.
1953: Actor Tom Hulce (Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame) is born in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
1958: Construction on Florida’s Interstate 4 starts up.
1965: Disney’s That Darn Cat! is released.
1965: Animator, writer, director, and actor, Andrew Stanton (WALL-E, Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Ratatouille, Cars, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc.) is born in Rockport, Massachusetts.
1966: Disney’s Follow Me, Boys! is released.
1971: The Roy O. Disney engine goes into service on the Walt Disney World Railroad.
1984: The first Walt Disney Classics video is released under that brand (it’s Robin Hood, by the way).
1986: Across the U.S., Walt Disney Recognition Day is officially celebrated.
1987: Actor Michael Angarano (Will Stronghold in Sky High) is born in Brooklyn, New York.
1987: Actor Orlando Brown (That’s So Raven, Fillmore!, Max Keeble’s Big Move, The Proud Family) is born in Los Angeles, California.
1988: In Los Angeles, Disney acquires the TV station KHJ (now KCAL) Channel 9.
1993: In the Magic Kingdom, Magic Journeys is shown in the Fantasyland Theater for the last time.
1994: Actor Jake T. Austin (Max Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place) is born in New York.
2001: At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the TriceraTop Spin ride opens.
2003: Roy Disney and Stanley Gold officially launch SaveDisney.com.
2004: At Walt Disney World, Disney’s PhotoPass debuts.
