Pal Mickey: “See ya real soon!”

Disney will announce shortly that their Pal Mickey plush doll will be discontinued. Pal Mickey contains technology which is activated when in proximity of senors located throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks. These sensors send a signal that causes the doll to interact with the guest giving them information about upcoming parades, wait times and trivia about rides close to where Pal Mickey is currently located. When the guest takes Pal Mickey home, he also plays a number of games which do not require the doll to be located in a theme park.

According to Disney, the doll which debuted in 2003 will no longer be sold but will continue to operate in the parks just as it does today. Pal Mickeys will continue to be available for sale at select locations in the theme park while supplies last.

Hrm… i best get me one of these while they are still around

I really wish there was one that worked at DLR. I’d totally buy it.

Now you’ve made my wife angry with me.

She loves her Pal Mickey, and it’s kill the messenger time.

Looks like Figment gets a partner in the “things we like that are no longer.”

Is there any way that i can get one with out going to WDW? Kinda stuck overseas at the moment?

There’s ebay and the world of disney store online.

I was upset when I got down to Disney last week. I was all set to buy one and you can’t find them anywhere in the parks. They called around 2 different parks to see if they could even find one for me.

I actually got one of the first Pal Mickeys ever. I was wandering through the gift shop at the Wilderness Lodge when they first started putting them out. Needless to say I bought one. The managers told me they were the first to put them out. And while I was going through the Magic Kingdom with my brand new Pal Mickey, I ran into no other than Marty Sklar and got to talk to him about how it worked. It doesn’t work too well anymore as my 2 1/2 year old daughter likes to play with it and drop it alot, but it’s still one of my favorite disney memories.
