News from the San Diego Comic Convention:

BOOM! Studios and Disney Publishing Worldwide announced that more Pixar movies will be developed into comic books. The two studios had already agreed to bring The Incredibles to the medium and have now decided to also bring Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., and WALL-E into the comic world.
Also, Pixar advertised their upcoming film “Up” at a local hotel. Of course, Pixar being Pixar, the ads aren’t normal. They decided to redo the elevator(s) at a hotel in the form of a ad for the movie. Check out the pics:

Disney also announced that Tron 2.0 (the well kept secret) is in production, with even a teaser trailer prepared, although it will be over a year before more footage is ready. Jeff Bridges (Kevin Flynn/Clu in the first) and SARK (possibly) are back in the sequel.
All involved with Race to Witch Mountain are fans of the original. The movie will be a re-imagining rather than a sequel or remake. The new version will be more action packed, to keep people interested, with Carla Guigino playing a discredited astrophysicist and Dwane “The Rock” Johnson playing a cab driver. The kids in the first Escape to Witch mountain, Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, make an appearance in the movie.

Disney screened 10 minutes of their next release, “Bolt”, starring Miley Cyrus as Penny and John Travolta as Bolt. Also, the Bolt website went live last night. This will be Walt Disney Animation Studios’ last mainly computer animation movie as the division heads towards mainly 2D hand-drawn animation. While the studio will have some 3D computer-animated movies (Rapunzel, The Bear and the Bow, TR2N), WDAS’ main focus will be on 2D (The Princess and the Frog).
After the presentation on Bolt, Pixar showed a clip from their next film, “Up”. The plot was also revealed: An elderly man, Carl (voiced by Ed Asner), is the lone holdout in a neighborhood that is going to be redeveloped. When a bus comes to pick him up to go to a retirement home, he asks them to wait and goes back inside his house and releases lots of balloons. His intention is to travel to Venezuela to keep his promise to his wife that they would sight-see in the South American country. The Up website also went live last night.
Disney has *several* other 3D animated movies planned, including Rapunzel.
