1905: Actor John Abbott (The Jungle Book) is born in London, England
1911: Actor Eric Rolf (Song of the South, Davy Crockett, Indian Scout) is born in Minneapolis, MN
1922: Actress Joan Copeland (Brother Bear, Jungle 2 Jungle) is born in New York City, NY.
1924: Disney’s Alice’s Fishy Story is released.
1924: Actor Dennis Weaver (Home on the Range, Gunsmoke, Gentle Ben, McCloud) is born in Joplin, MO.
1931: Swiss artist Albert Hurter joins the Disney staff to work on movies such as Snow White and Pinocchio.
1933: The first Mickey Mouse watch is sold by the Ingersoll-Waterbury Company in Connecticut.
1933: Eric Larson (one of Walt’s “Nine Old Men“) joins the Disney Studios.
1934: Mickey’s first appearance in a feature film (MGM’s Hollywood Party)
1934: Walt Disney Productions is granted a trademark for the character of Mickey Mouse in books and comic strips.
1935: Ingersoll-Waterbury reports that 2.5 million Mickey Mouse watches were sold in a 2 year period.
1947: Actor Jonathan Pryce (Governor Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) is born in Wales.
1959: The Submarine Voyage (one of the first to require an E-ticket) opens in Disneyland’s updated Tomorrowland.
1972: Walt Disney World’s If You Had Wings, sponsored by Eastern Airlines, opens.
1975: America on Parade, a special Bicentennial event, debuts at Walt Disney World
1975: Disney World’s Mission to Mars replaces the Flight to the Moon attraction.
1982: Walt Disney World’s monorail line is extended from the Ticket and Transportation Center to the soon-to-open EPCOT Center.
1987: If You Could Fly (sponsored by Delta Airlines) replaces Eastern Airlines’ If You Had Wings in Disney World.
1989: Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon opens.
1990: The Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel opens.
1993: The Splashdown Photos shop opens at the end of Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom.
1995: Space Mountain opens at Disneyland. It is the first to include sound.
1995: Walt Disney World officially announces the construction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
1998: The Lion King receives 6 Tony Awards (Best Musical, Best Director, Best Choreography, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Lighting Design)
1998: Disney’s 36th animated film Mulan premiers at the Hollywood Bowl in California. The film is the first (of three) produced mainly at the Disney-MGM Studios in Disney World.
1999: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh opens in the Magic Kingdom
2000: Disney’s Aida wins 4 Tony Awards (Best Leading Actress in a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design, and Best Lighting)
2001: Atlantis: The Lost Empire premiers at the El Capitan Theatre.
2002: Journey Into Imagination reopens in Epcot.
2006: Disney’s The Lion King performs at the New Amsterdam Theater for the last time.
