Disney Channel has ordered episodes of “Welcome to Mollywood,” a live-action comedy series starring Demi Lovato, who also stars in the network’s “Camp Rock,” featuring the Jonas Brothers. The series revolves around Molly (played by Lovato), a 15 year-old small town girl who is chosen to have a role in the most popular and longest-running teen sketch comedy show on television (think Nickelodeon’s “All-That”), after a nationwide search. Lovato will also star in the “Princess Protection Program” (also starring Selena Gomez) which will premier around September 19.
Lovato has a recording contract with Disney’s Hollywood Records, and will be featured in the Jonas Brothers “Burning Up” tour that kicks off on May 26.
The “Mollywood” cast also includes Tiffany Thornton, Brandon Mychal Smith, Doug Brochu and Allisyn Ashley Arm. It is set to go into production in September.
