“I’m Going To Disney World!!!”

David Cook will follow the path of the Superbowl, World Series, and NBA Finals champs before them. I know what you’re thinking…they’re not athletes. That’s right, the newest “Idol” champ will shout “I’m going to Disney World!” during the celebration immediately following the winner’s coronation. This will be a rare off-field exception for those famous words, which have, at most times, been uttered by sports figures, Disney said Wednesday. Ever since 1987, winning athletes have exclaimed the announcement as the crowds cheered and as the confetti flew.
Cook will be able to proclaim these words because of the new “American Idol” attraction opening in January 2009 at Walt Disney World. The live performance attraction, based on “American Idol,” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will allow guests to audition and perform before a live audience. Disney has licensed the rights to create the attraction from “Idol” co-producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia.
