Paul and Karen Campanale, from Worcester, Massachusetts, were cleaning up their villa at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge preparing to leave last week when Mrs. Campanale’s three rings (engagement, wedding, and five-year-anniversary rings)

When they informed the housekeeping staff at the Lodge about the missing jewelry, the cast members warned the couple that recovering the jewelry was theoretically impossible. So, fearing the worst, the Campanale family loaded onto a Magical Express bus and headed to the airport.

Back at the resort, Drew Weaver, executive housekeeper, realized that the Campanale’s trash was still sitting in the parking-lot trash dumpster. After this realization, he, and seven other volunteers, donned protective clothing, emptied a parking lot bin and waded through bag after bag of garbage to find the rings.

After finding the rings, Weaver called the Campanales and met the family to return the rings.

When asked about the dumpster diving, Weaver said, “That’s not the first time we’ve gone through trash — oh, no. We don’t always find things. Many times we come up empty. But we didn’t this time.”
