Disney Hotel Guests Targeted By Scam Artist

(News | Source: Local 6)

A scam artist has conned a number of Disney hotel guests out of hundreds to thousands of dollars in the past few weeks. Orange County Sheriffs belive the scam artist would hang out in the hotel lobby and listen in on conversations of the guests. They would then call the rooms and offer guests discounted tickets for the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show or the Hoopie-Doo Review. The scam artist would use the guests name and room number and pretend to be a Disney Cast Member then ask for the guests credit card number to purchase the tickets. At least nine guests have come forward as being scammed.

Catherine Maybie checked into the Polynesian on January 17 and was soon contacted by someone offering a great deal on dining tickets. The caller knew her information but needed her credit card and said to pick up the tickets at the front desk in 24 hours. When she went to pick up the tickets from guest services but Disney had no record of the order. Maybie soon found $1,500 worth of fraudulent charges on her credit card. Disney has placed cards next to phones in their rooms saying that cast members will never ask for your credit card information.

NSFW??? I got past the Toyota commercial and it was suddenly a man and a woman in just a bra passionately kissing. That’s no good working in a family-oriented company.

I guess this was about their new show not the scam?

Oops…yep. This should have gone on the squeegee thing…not the poly scam. Sorry.
