Future of the Treehouse Villas in Debate

(News | Source: Netcot.com interview with Disney Cast Member Gene)

A cast member at Walt Disney World confirmed today that the location formerly known as the Treehouse Villas officially closed last week. This resort has been unavailable for guests to say at for several years. Since that closure, the resort has been used for a number of things, most recently as housing for students working at WDW. As of this past week, the resort has officially been closed for this purpose and the site’s future is up in the air.

Two current debates include the site being used as part of either the adjacent Saratoga Springs resort or the Old Key West resort. At this time, the future of this site has not officially been determined.

I would love to see this resort re-opened to guests in some capacity, I’ve always wanted to stay there. But, I know it is highly unlikely. The Disney castmembers I have talked to about it have all mentioned the inaccessability as the reason they were closed in the first place. Ahhh, well.

I stayed there once during a vacation in 1993, It was the best place to stay, I always look back at those videos and remember how nice it is there

I stayed there in the 80’s as a child and loved it. I was hoping to go back and stay there with my husband, children, adn parents. It is disappointing to hear they are closing.

I just arrived to my country from my International College Program, and yes, the Treehouse Villas was closed on january 24th (I lived there since august 2007). This place is gonna be demolished and rebuild for guests, not for cast members anymore. I have to say that although the bad things i found there (insects, the peacock, some snakes…), it has its charm. The new place where cast members had to move (i used to live there on my first porgram too) is so different. Im glad that guests enjoyed the place as much as I did.
