‘Little Mermaid’ Flops On Broadway

(News | Source: Reuters)

The Little Mermaid has been panned by critics after its first day on Broadway. The story is based on the animated 1989 Disney film with the same name. The cast received good reviews but the show set and costumes seemed to be the problem and were criticized. The show was also criticized as being ‘plastic’ and more ‘mechanical’ than magical.

“Sadly, following the demise of the joyless green blob that was ‘Tarzan,’ ‘The Little Mermaid’ suggests that on Broadway, the Disney magic touch has gone numb,” wrote New York Times critic Ben Brantley, calling the show a “musical blunderbuss.”
