I agree with you Van! I totally see what they are thinking, but the original Disney AIW is more of an upbeat, not too creepy version of the story. It would be weird to make the jump to Tim Burton's style. Then again, I was talking to my brother earlier today and we decided that the original Willy Wonka is actually MORE terrifying than the Tim Burton version, so who knows?

I, too, am a big fan of the movie. I named my daughter Alice. But I'm also a big fan of the book & if he goes more in the direction of the book, it could be great and stand side by side with the animated. Who knows with him? We could have Sleepy Hollow or we could have Planet of the Apes. I've got to hope it will be great. However, most people I mentioned it to were a tad worried, as well.

Sorry, dude. I have to disagree here. Alice in Wonderland is one of those properties that can be adapted in a million ways from family oriented fun to dark and trippy to LSD induced haze. I think Disney's Alice in one of the lesser versions. I love most of Tim Burton's work (I will be attending the tale of Sweeny Todd) and can't wait to see what he can do with this title.

NOOOOO!!!!

I happen to be one of (apparently only a few) those people who really doesn't care for Tim Burton's work. And, Alice in Wonderland is one of my FAVORITE Disney movies. I get why they think the story lends itself well to his style - I just hate to mess with a classic like that!
