Disney to Offer ABC TV Shows Online in Finland

(News | Source: Digital Media Wire)

Disney will now be allowing consumers in Finland to pay to watch ABC television shows online four days after they have been broadcast in the U.S. The deal is with Finnish broadcaster Nelonen who will be the first to offer American TV shows so soon after their release. On average, U.S. shows are not broadcast in Europe for three to six months.

“We and Disney have a learning perspective here,” Pirjo Airaksinen, head of Finnish Nelonen, told Reuters. “Finnish people easily take up new technologies. As a relatively small, homogeneous market, Finland is a good test bed for consumer behavior.”
