This is Week in Walt Disney World History – August 26 to September 1
With the end of the summer tourist season at Walt Disney World, changes start to happen at the resort. This week saw the end of a few parades and the opening of a playground that sits where 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was.
- Sunday, August 28, 1994 — The Art of Disney opened at Downtown Disney
- Sunday, August 27, 1995 — The parade Aladdin’s Royal Caravan closed at Disney-MGM Studios
- Saturday, August 29, 1992 — Dinosaurs Live closed at Disney-MGM Studios
- Monday, September 1, 1997 — Sunshine Pavilion closed in Adventureland
- Monday, September 1, 1997 — Tropical Serenade closed in Adventureland
- Sunday, September 1, 2002 — Once Upon a Toy opened at Downtown Disney
- Saturday, September 1, 2001 — Video Games of Tomorrow’s sponsorship by Sega ended
- Thursday, September 1, 2005 — Pooh’s Playful Spot opened in Fantasyland
- Thursday, September 1, 2005 — Liberty Square Riverboat closed for a yearlong refurbishment
