DirecTV to Launch Disney Channel HD

DirecTV will launch Disney Channel HD in the spring of 2008 and exclusive rights to air the HD version of High School Musical 2 on August 24th at 6 p.m. EST. The Disney Channel HD will be a simulcast of the regular channel except in the high definition format. The company is also working on deals to launch ABC Family HD, ESPNews HD and Toon Disney HD. These will be the first HD channels for the four Disney channels.
