‘Wand’ removal ahead of schedule; down by Oct 1st

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the removal of the ‘wand’ from Spaceship Earth is ahead of schedule as the word ‘Epcot’ has been removed along with the star from the top of the wand. According to Epcot Vice President Jim MacPhee, the hardest part of the demolition is the removal of the tower and base. The plan is to have the structure removed by October 1st for the 25th anniversary of Epcot’s opening.
