England’s Chelsea becomes official WDW soccer team

England’s Chelsea became the official professional soccer team for Disney’s Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World. Chelsea will also be the sponsor of the Disney Soccer Showcase Series. The team will also have a presence at all Disney run soccer events. Part of the deal has at least one Chelsea Soccer Academy team visiting the Wide World of Sports while a winning team from a Disney soccer tournament will be taken to England for training.
“Chelsea is committed to assisting and promoting all levels of soccer in the United States, and youth soccer is a massive part of that,” Chelsea business affairs director Paul Smith said.
