Top 7: “Things You Might Not Have Done in Disney”
I have SO MUCH audio on Illuminations, I decided I better feature that attraction early on so that I can do it again later as a “Illuminations: Revisited” episode or something.
For those of you trying to write down or type out the intro (that you hopefully recognized from the WDW Trams) let me give you a hand:
“Welcome aboard. For your children’s safety please seat them toward the inside. For your safety do not stand or try to exit the tram while it is in motion. If you loose something from the tram, please wait until the next stop to notify the operator.
Bienbenidos a bordo. Por favor, permanesca sentado mientras que el vehiclo este en el movimiento. Y sienta los ninos en el parte central de la sento. Si peirda algo del veliclo, desperde hasta que llegemos a nostram emos parada, y notifica el operador.”
My Spanish might be a bit off, but its at least phonetically correct.
News Stories:
- Two new restaurants are planned for WDW. One is an Asian-themed restaurant for Animal Kingdom set in the mythical village of Anadapur (spelling?). The other will be in Downtown Disney and be operated by Landry’s Restaurants (the people who brought you the Rainforest Cafe). This one will be a prehistoric environment with fire, water and ice and life-sized audio-animatronic dinosaurs.
- Mama Melrose in MGM may close as soon as this fall, according to the 2006 Birnbaum Guide to WDW.
- The All Star Music resort has opened 192 suites complete with a master bedroom, pullout sofa, kitchenette and 2 bathrooms. Disney suggests they are perfect for a family the size of about 6 people.
- Timekeeper is shut down for good, acording to WDI.
- Pirates will re-open on July 7, 2006 with new updates to tie it closer to the upcoming Pirates movie.
- Robert Iger negotiated a trade of Al Michaels for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from NBC/Universal. This returns Oswald (the predicesor to Mickey Mouse, which Walt lost in a contract loop-hole) to Disney.
- Disney’s catalog business will be reduced to special editions only, because no one orders from them and because their web business is so much stronger.
- The Hell’s Angles motorcycle gang is sueing Disney over the upcoming Disney film named “Wild Hogs” staring John Travolta and Tim Allen. The Angels say their logo and trademarked name were used without permission.
